The York School (TYS) is a non-denominational and coeducational JK to grade 12 independent school. Located in the heart of Toronto, The York School was founded in 1965 and is the first school in Canada accredited to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) from junior kindergarten (JK) to university entrance. The York School's motto is Experientia Docet or Experience Teaches. ==History== In 1965, Barbara Goodwin-Zeibots established the school as a nursery school. In 1978, a toddler program and an elementary school were started. Grade 9 commenced in 1995. Goodwin-Zeibots remained the head until retiring in the spring of 2006. The current head of the school is Conor Jones. In September 2010, The York School opened a second campus at 1639 Yonge Street. This location houses the Junior School L (JK-Grade 5) students.
